FUDutse to start AI, Data Science degree programmes

In a move to modernize academic offerings, the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Dutse (FUD) has announced the introduction of new degree programs focused on emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning and Data Science & Analytics.

Speaking during an interactive session with university staff, the VC outlined his “Vision 2030” plan, which aims to reposition the institution as a nationally and globally competitive hub for market-driven education. The new portfolio of programs is designed to enhance graduate employability by aligning skills with current industry demands.

Beyond tech-focused degrees, the university will also introduce programs in Networking and Cloud Computing, Project Management, Procurement, Logistics and Supply Chain, Geology, Climate-Smart Agriculture, Optometry, Physiotherapy, and Community Health, among others.

The VC emphasized that achieving academic excellence in the 21st century requires a comprehensive revision and modernization of curricula to meet both National Universities Commission (NUC) benchmarks and global digital transformation standards. He called on academic staff to embrace the wave of reforms, which include far-reaching changes to academic programs over the next five years.

“We have the manpower and the political will to position FUD in the global scheme of things,” the VC stated. He expressed confidence that through competitive academic programs, cutting-edge research, and productive global partnerships, the university can strengthen its standing among ranked institutions in the “big league.”
