In a landmark development for technical education in Kaduna State, the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has granted approval for Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic to commence eighteen new academic programmes, while also securing the continuation of its forty-two existing programmes following a successful resource inspection and re-accreditation exercise.
The approval, conveyed in a letter dated 20th February, 2026, was signed by Dr. Fatima Kabir Umar, Director of the Polytechnic and Allied Programmes Department, on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the Board, Prof. Idris Mohammed Bugaje. The resource inspection visit took place in January 2026.
This milestone positions the institution to significantly expand its admission capacity and deliver enhanced technical and vocational education to a broader spectrum of students across the state and beyond.
Newly Approved Programmes
The following programmes have received NBTE approval for commencement:
1. HND Agricultural and Bio-Environmental Engineering (Soil and Water)
2. HND Computer Engineering Technology
3. ND Mechatronics Engineering Technology
4. ND Renewable Energy Technology
5. Welding and Fabrication Engineering
6. HND Mechanical Engineering Technology (Plant Engineering option)
7. HND Science Laboratory Technology (Environmental Biology option)
8. HND Science Laboratory Technology (Micro-Biology option)
9. HND Science Laboratory Technology (Bio-Chemistry option)
10. ND Glass Technology
11. ND Library & Information Science
12. HND Journalism & Media Studies
13. HND Film & Multimedia Production
14. HND Animal Production Technology
15. HND Pest Management Technology
16. ND Common & Islamic Law
17. ND Law
18. ND Procurement and Supply Chain Management
Speaking on the achievement, the Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Mohammed Kabir Abdullahi, expressed profound gratitude to the Governor of Kaduna State, His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Uba Sani CON, for his unwavering support and foresight.
“This significant milestone would not have been possible without the unwavering support and foresight of the Governor. His commitment to investing in educational infrastructure and resources has been instrumental in enabling Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic to meet the standards set by the NBTE,” the Rector stated.
He further noted that the Governor’s funding of the accreditation exercise paved the way for this expansion, ensuring that the Polytechnic remains a leading institution for technical training in the region.
Engr. Dr. Abdullahi also extended appreciation to the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Education, Prof. Abubakar Sani Sambo, and the staff of the ministry, as well as all staff of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, whose substantial support proved crucial in achieving this accreditation success.
The re-accreditation of the forty-two existing programmes alongside the approval of new offerings underscores the Polytechnic’s commitment, under the current leadership, to maintaining high standards in technical education and producing skilled graduates capable of contributing effectively to national development. The newly introduced programmes are strategically designed to address emerging industry needs, equipping students with specialized knowledge and practical skills in diverse fields.
