The NELFUND Committee of the Students’ Union Government at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, has issued an official notice directing certain beneficiaries to refund an overpayment made in their disbursements.
According to a statement signed by the committee, a review of payment records revealed discrepancies in the amounts refunded to some students for the 2022/2023 Academic Session.
The breakdown provided indicates that NELFUND disbursed the sum of ₦69,700 on behalf of the affected students for the 2022/2023 session. However, during the 2024/2025 Academic Session, only ₦20,000 was implemented on their school portal, leaving an actual refundable balance of ₦49,700.
Despite this, the students received a refund of ₦64,700, resulting in an excess payment of ₦15,200.
In light of this discovery, the affected students have been directed to visit the ATBU Microfinance Bank to refund the overpaid amount of ₦15,200 as instructed.
The committee emphasized that prompt compliance is necessary to ensure proper reconciliation of records and maintain transparency in the NELFUND disbursement process.
Students are urged to cooperate fully to resolve the issue swiftly.
