The Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike, Ikwo (AE-FUNAI) has issued an urgent security advisory to all students following the disturbing news of the kidnapping and confirmed death of the Traditional King of Ndufu Alike in the Ikwo region.
According to the notice released from the Office of the President of the Students’ Union Government on March 6, 2026, the tragic incident has created a tense and sensitive atmosphere within the host community. The union expressed deep sympathy to the royal family and the entire community during this difficult time.
“This tragic incident has brought grief to the royal family, the community, and everyone affected. We join others in mourning this painful loss and pray for peace during this difficult time,” the statement read.
The union further disclosed that security agencies have intensified their operations across the state and surrounding communities. Several arrests and investigations are currently ongoing as law enforcement authorities work to identify and apprehend those responsible for the crime.
In light of the situation, students have been strongly advised to remain calm, vigilant, and security conscious. They are encouraged to stay indoors as much as possible and avoid unnecessary movements, particularly in areas where security operations are taking place.
The advisory also noted that security personnel may detain individuals for questioning during the ongoing operations. Students were therefore urged to cooperate fully with security agencies in order to avoid unnecessary inconvenience, arrests, or expenses related to bail and legal matters.
Additionally, the Students’ Union cautioned students against spreading rumors or sharing unverified information that could further heighten tension within the community.
Students are advised to prioritize their safety, remain alert, and continue to monitor updates from relevant authorities as well as the student leadership.
