AKSU gets new Governing Council

The Akwa Ibom State Government has approved the appointment of new members into the Governing Council of Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU).

According to a press release issued on February 23, 2026, the State Governor, Umo Bassey Eno, approved the appointments as part of efforts to strengthen the institution’s administration and governance structure.

AKSU gets new Governing Council

Leading the newly constituted council is Udoma Udo Udoma, who will serve as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council. Other appointed members include Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, Surveyor Mfoniso Essien, Lady (Barr.) Dr. Stella Udoh, and Dr. Enefiok Edem.

Additionally, representatives from the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Digital Economy have been included as members of the council.

The government stated that the appointments take immediate effect. The inauguration of the Governing Council is scheduled to hold on Monday, February 23, 2026, at the EXCO Chamber, Governor’s Office in Uyo by 5:00 p.m.

All appointed members have been directed to attend the inauguration promptly.
