The management of Aminu Saleh College of Education, Azare has issued an official notice to students who are beneficiaries of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), informing them that the Fund has commenced the disbursement of approved school fees directly to the College’s account.
According to the statement released by the Office of the Registrar, the disbursement is being carried out in line with the provisions of the Student Loans (Access to Higher Education) Act, 2024. Following the receipt of the funds, the College began a verification and reconciliation process to ensure that the amounts received are correctly applied to the accounts of the respective students who benefited from the loan scheme.

Purpose of the Funds
Management clarified that all funds received from NELFUND are strictly meant for the payment of beneficiaries’ school fees for the entire academic session. The money is applied directly to the fee accounts of each student.
Refund of Previously Paid Fees
The College further explained that some beneficiaries had already paid part of their school fees before the NELFUND disbursement was made. In such cases, the institution will refund only the exact amount previously paid by the student in order to prevent double payment.
Students who paid their first semester school fees before the loan disbursement will receive a refund of the amount they paid. Meanwhile, the NELFUND payment will cover the full sessional school fees, including the second semester.
Verification and Reconciliation
The College is currently verifying the list of beneficiaries and reconciling the amounts received from NELFUND to ensure that all funds are correctly posted to students’ accounts and that refunds are properly processed where necessary.
Issuance of Sessional Receipts
For accounting, auditing, and statutory compliance purposes, the institution will issue a sessional receipt to each beneficiary. The receipt will reflect the full amount of school fees paid by NELFUND on behalf of the student for the academic session.
Refund Process Timeline
Management also confirmed that discussions have already taken place with the Students’ Union leadership, while many affected students were addressed by the Provost and the Registrar in front of the Administrative Complex. During the engagement, the refund process and timelines were explained.
The refund process is currently ongoing following the necessary verification and financial procedures. All eligible refunds are expected to be completed on or before Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
Students are therefore advised to remain calm and rely only on official communications from the College while the process is being finalized.
