ACADEMIC POSITIONS

    1.     College of Health Sciences Programmes:

    2. Anatomy and Embryology
    3. Physiology

     

    Qualifications and Experience

    (a)   Professor

    Candidates must possess a Ph.D in the relevant field with at least twelve (12) years of teaching, research, and professional experience in a university or comparable tertiary institution. They must show evidence of substantial publications in reputable local and international journals, proven capacity for postgraduate supervision, and the ability to initiate and develop independent research.

    For Medicine and Surgery, candidates must possess MBBS or BDS, be registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), and hold an appropriate MDCN-registered Specialty Fellowship from any recognized Postgraduate Medical College. A minimum of nine (9) years of post-fellowship teaching and research experience in a university is required.

    (b)   Reader (Associate Professor)

    Applicants must possess a Ph.D in the relevant discipline with at least ten (10) years of teaching and research experience in a university or comparable institution. Evidence of substantial scholarly publications, postgraduate supervision, and the ability to initiate and develop research is required.

    For Medicine and Surgery, candidates must possess MBBS or BDS, be registered with the MDCN, and have an appropriate MDCN-registered Specialty Fellowship with a minimum of six (6) years post-fellowship teaching and research experience.

    In addition, candidates must demonstrate academic leadership, administrative competence, teamwork, and experience in interdisciplinary collaboration. Registration with professional bodies, where applicable, is compulsory.

    (c)   Senior Lecturer

    Applicants must possess a Ph.D in the relevant field with a minimum of five (5) years of university teaching and research experience. They must have a good record of publications in reputable journals, academic originality, and a contribution to knowledge.

    For clinical disciplines, candidates must possess MBBS or BDS, be registered with

    MDCN, and have an MDCN-registered Specialty Fellowship with at least three

    (3) years post-fellowship teaching and research experience in a university. Registration with professional bodies, where applicable, is compulsory.

    (d)   Lecturer I

    Applicants must possess a Ph.D in the relevant field with at least three (3) years post-qualification teaching or research experience, and a good record of publications with clear evidence of academic potential and originality.

    For clinical disciplines, applicants must possess an MBBS or BDS, be registered with MDCN, and an appropriate Specialty Fellowship from a recognized Postgraduate Medical College with relevant experience.

    (e)   Lecturer II

    Applicants must possess an MBBS or BDS, be registered with the MDCN, and hold at least a Master’s degree or membership of any of the recognized Postgraduate

    Medical Colleges in the relevant specialty. Evidence of Ph,D registration and progress report will be an added advantage.

    Qualifications and Experience

    (a)   Professor

    Candidate must possess a Ph.D in Law from a recognized university with specialization in any of the core areas relevant to the Department (Private and Public Law, Commercial and International Law, etc.). Must have a minimum of twelve (12) years of full-time, post- qualification teaching and research experience in a recognized university. Must have a strong record of scholarly publications in reputable national and international journals, with evidence of continuing research activity. Must demonstrate evidence of academic leadership, mentorship, and service within the university system or professional bodies.

    Must be a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and, preferably, the Nigerian Association of Law Teachers (NALT) or similar relevant professional associations.

    Experience in curriculum development, postgraduate supervision, and accreditation processes will be an added advantage.

    (b)   Reader (Associate Professor)

    Candidate must possess a Ph.D in Law with specialization in any of the relevant areas of law. Must have a minimum of nine (9) years of teaching and research experience at the university level. Must have substantial publications in reputable refereed journals and evidence of ongoing research. Must demonstrate capacity for academic leadership and postgraduate supervision.

    Must be a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and other relevant professional bodies.

    Evidence of successful curriculum development or departmental service will be an advantage.

    (c)   Senior Lecturer

    Candidate must possess a Ph.D in Law from a recognized university with specialization relevant to the Department. Must have a minimum of six (6) years of

    university teaching and research experience. Must have a record of scholarly publications in reputable journals and show evidence of ongoing research activity.

    Candidates must demonstrate teaching effectiveness, research capability, and leadership potential. Candidate must also be a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and preferably belong to professional associations such as the Nigerian Association of Law Teachers (NALT).

    Evidence of postgraduate teaching/supervision experience and participation in professional or university service will be an added advantage.

    (d)   Lecturer I

    Candidate must possess a Ph.D in Law from a recognized university, with specialization relevant to the Department. Must have at least three (3) years of teaching or professional legal experience at the university level or equivalent. Must have a good record of scholarly publications and demonstrable teaching and research potential.

    Candidates must be members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

    Candidates with an LL.M degree and substantial professional or research experience

    may also be considered, provided there is evidence of Ph.D registration and progress.

    (e)   Lecturer II

    Candidate must possess an LL.M degree in Law from a recognized university, with specialization relevant to the Department. Must hold a good first degree in Law (LL.B) with at least Second Class (Upper Division) and be called to the Nigerian Bar (B.L.). Must demonstrate strong potential for teaching and research, with evidence of enrollment or readiness to enroll for a Ph.D in Law.

    Membership of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) is mandatory. Some teaching or professional experience will be an added advantage.

     

    NON-TEACHING POSITIONS

    a)   Technologists for ICT and e-Learning Resources

    Qualifications and Experience

    BSc in Computer Science, Information Technology, Educational Technology, or related field; certifications in LMS administration, multimedia, or e-learning tools are desirable.

    Candidates must have experience in supporting virtual learning environments, managing e-learning platforms, multimedia content creation, and user support.
    b)   College Administrators and Departmental Admins

    Qualifications and Experience

    BSc/HND in Business Administration, Mass Communication, Sociology, Mathematics, Secretarial Studies, or relevant field. A diploma in office/records/management will be an added advantage.

    Candidates must have experience in higher education administration preferred; excellent organisational and communication skills.
