Students of the Federal University of Technology, Ilaro (formerly The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro) have been given a firm ultimatum regarding their access to the institution’s facilities and the upcoming examinations.
In an internal memo dated February 26, 2026, the Registrar announced that due to a significant number of returning students failing to pay the approved service charges, Management will be enforcing strict measures for the 2025/2026 First Semester Examinations.

Biometric Access and Mandatory ID
According to the statement, attendance at the examinations will be strictly biometric. Consequently, only students who possess the official 2025/2026 Student Identification Card will be eligible to sit for the exams.
The directive extends beyond the exam hall. With immediate effect, students without the current ID card—including those in ND I, ND II, HND I, HND II, part-time, and ODFL programmes—are barred from attending lectures and tests. Lecturers have been directed to enforce this rule strictly.
“Operation Show Your Receipt”
The institution is set to launch an “Operation Show Your Receipt and ID Card” exercise next week. During this period, students must present their official receipt of payment alongside their ID card to access any facility.
The crackdown affects all student services. The Medical Director has been instructed to attend only to students who present a valid ID card. Similarly, access to the Library, ICT facilities, Innovation Centre, Studios, Laboratories, and Workshops will be denied without the 2025/2026 identification card.
The memo, signed by Mr. S. M. F. Babatola (Chairman, Security Committee), warns clearly: “No Current Identification Card, No Access to Institutional Facilities and No First Semester Examination.”
All affected students are advised to regularise their status without further delay.
