OAU fresher engages in a heated clash with her lecturer, clip trends online (Watch)

A fresher of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) has gone viral on social media following the circulation of a video showing her engaged in a heated confrontation with a female lecturer.

The clip, which has sparked widespread reactions online, shows the student involved in a tense altercation with the lecturer while security officials struggled to restrain her.

The incident drew the attention of many on campus, turning the area into a scene of commotion as students and staff looked on.

The video, which has gained significant traction on the microblogging platform X (formerly Twitter), was shared by a user identified as @thisisdmt01.

As of the time of this report, the cause of the clash between the fresher and the lecturer remains unclear.

However, the incident has triggered intense debate online, with many users accusing the student of being disrespectful to the lecturer and speculating that she could face serious disciplinary action, including possible expulsion.

Reacting @Thy_Oxygen shared, “We are slowly losing our cultural virtues due to westernization, respect is no longer an asset to be upheld anymore, back in the days, students do not even dare stand up to lecturers in this manner talk more of talking back, she’s was even attempting to retaliate, omo.”

@motionhse_edits added, “Ah. Omo she almost brutalize lecturer o.”

@official_bawnga said, “I don’t want to hear the story… “Never fight inside the school premises” talkless of fighting your lecturer. She’s a gunna mehnn.”

@faith_chiazor spills, “I don’t know what caused it but university is not secondary school. Some lecturers abuse power and forget students are adults. Being a fresher doesn’t excuse disrespect, There should be policies in place to see that lecturers do not weaponize authority. If the student is wrong let her face the full punishment.”

@prinxe_B added, “The level of disrespect in schools these days is wild. Back then, lecturers were like parents, you dared not cross the line. Now, students are standing up and even trying to retaliate. We’ve really lost our way.”

@AdeyemiSijuwade remarked, “Congratulations to her.. she graduated as a fresher 😛.”

In conclusion, the viral incident involving the OAU fresher and her lecturer has reignited conversations around discipline, respect, and power dynamics within Nigerian universities. While many have condemned the student’s actions as outright disrespectful, others argue that the full context must be known before judgment, especially in cases where authority may be abused.
