The leadership of the Union has been inundated with numerous complaints and firsthand accounts highlighting severe systemic deficiencies in the conduct of Computer-Based Tests (CBT). These issues, stemming from the mandatory implementation of CBT for courses with enrollments exceeding 250 students, have reached a critical juncture where they directly undermine academic integrity, student performance, and overall well-being.
They include but not limited to system glitches that skip questions, faulty equipment such as mouses causing unintended double-clicks, overcrowding in ICT spaces leading to unconducive environments, and inadequate infrastructure to handle the growing student population, have significantly impacted academic performance, caused widespread anxiety, and resulted in unfair outcomes for many students.
These deficiencies have contributed to unnecessary failures, mental strain, and a decline in academic morale. With examinations fast approaching, continuing under these conditions would constitute an injustice to all students and compromise the credibility of our educational processes.
In light of these pressing matters, and in exercise of our mandate to protect student rights and interests, the Students’ Union hereby declares a STATE OF EMERGENCY on the conduct of all CBT examinations. Effective immediately, ALL CBT TESTS ARE HEREBY POSTPONED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
