The management of Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Ogun State, has issued a strong warning to students against the indiscriminate creation of social media content and skits on the institution’s campus without proper authorization.
In a memorandum issued by the institution’s management and signed by Mrs. F. Babatola, the polytechnic expressed concern over what it described as the alarming rate of unguarded and unregulated content creation within the campus environment.
The memo, which referenced an earlier directive from the Dean of Student Affairs, stated that the trend could negatively portray the image of the institution if not properly regulated.
According to the management, the polytechnic is nationally recognized as a Centre of academic excellence with a long-standing reputation for discipline and a peaceful learning environment.
“The Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro is an institution that is nationally recognized as a citadel of academic excellence characterized by a peaceful and harmonious environment with zero tolerance for indiscipline, which the management has guarded over the decades,” the memo stated.
The management added that it would not allow the institution’s reputation to be tarnished through the production of skits or other forms of content considered unprofessional or capable of portraying the school negatively.
It warned that any individual or group found engaging in such activities would face disciplinary action.
“Let it be emphatically stated that any individual or group of people caught in this act will be seriously dealt with henceforth,” the memo added.
However, the institution clarified that departments whose academic Programmes require skits or content creation as part of students’ academic projects must obtain prior permission before using campus facilities or grounds.
The management stressed that the directive must be strictly complied with, warning that violations would not be treated lightly.
