The University of Benin (UNIBEN) is set to host its 363rd Inaugural Lecture, featuring Professor Evelyn Iyose Umemezia, who will deliver a compelling discourse on the evolving role of women in corporate leadership.
According to an announcement by the institution’s Registrar, Ademola A. Bobola, the lecture is scheduled to hold on Thursday, 12th March 2026, at the Akin Deko Auditorium on the Ugbowo Campus. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Edoba B. Omoregie, SAN, will chair the occasion.
Professor Umemezia, a Professor of Human Resource Management, will present a paper titled: “Redefining Leadership and Gender: The Trajectory of Nigerian Women to the Boardroom.” The lecture promises to explore the pathways and challenges for Nigerian women ascending to senior executive and board-level positions.
An accomplished academic, Professor Umemezia’s multidisciplinary background includes degrees in Zoology, Business Administration, Education, and Accounting, capped with a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Benin. She is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (CIPM).
Guests have been advised to be seated by 3:30 pm, as the event is scheduled to commence promptly at 4:00 pm.
